Who am I?

How can any of us answer a question like ‘who are you?’ I am a mother, daughter, teacher, friend, partner, physicist, zen student, meditation leader. I am a lover of nature, a walker, an amateur paint dabbler, a wild swimmer.

I am quiet and bubbly-loud, a woman of calm reflection and extravagant gestures. I am filled with hope and pulled down by sorrow. I am all of these things and yet none of these exactly describe me. They are all labels of who I can be at any given moment. I wonder if you see this in yourself too.

On a more practical note, as well as being a secondary school physics teacher and tutor, I am a qualified Mindfulness in Schools teacher, with MiSP and teach both of their .b and Paws b programs . I have been a meditation group leader with the Western Chan Fellowship for over 15 years, and I completed Circle Facilitation training with Sister Stories earlier this year.

As a mother, partner and daughter I have often felt myself pulled by the opposing forces of grief and gratitude: grief at the darkness that seems to be surrounding us, and gratitude for the love and wonder I experience through connection with people and nature.

Looking around at the world I see that we need more spaces and opportunities to connect together; to share, to be known, to be held and to hold each other.

If you want to join me in this, I’d love to hear from you.

We all deserve more.

We all belong.
